|Description:||Photograph of G-Plan 'Librenza' unit model B880 in oak and black. This model was designed to accomodate a television set and had a cocktail cabinet in the base. See GF04_17 for alternative model.|
Although this photograph is from the file marked 'New Models 1957' the Librenza units were already listed on the October 1956 price list. At that time it was priced at £44 12s 6d (retail). It was also available in Tola and black.
The name ' Librenza' was devised by Doris Gundry (J Walter Thompson - advertising agency) being a combination of library and cadenza. Doris Gundry was also the inspiration behind the G-plan name and early G-Plan slogans. ref: HWFA Research Material, Sept 2007, Leslie Dandy notes ' A Designer's View. Unpublished comments.
