This picture is initialed in pencil 'E.G.H.W.'. Although many others in the folio bear the intials 'E.G.H.W.' either in pencil or ink, it is thought the intials refer to E. Gomme. High Wycombe, rather than the artist. Some of the images were used for advertising catalogues and can be seen in E. Gomme's 'Café & Hotel Furniture' catalogue, c. 1932. ref: GC01. (This catalogue is in the same style as the 'Silent Salesman', but is not marked as such, probably predating the concept). HWeFA holds an image of Drum Table model (0844). ref: GC02_19 |
