This design shows strong similarities to Occasional Chair (6245) which is more refined. Chronologically, this drawing immediately preceeds, the drawing for model 6245 and may well have served to inform the final model. ref: GBX10_01 and GBX01_06. HWFA holds approx. 396 design drawings by Ib Kofod-Larsen, produced for G-Plan between 1961 - 1974; many of which incorporate rough amendment sketches and written notes. Very few of the designs were ever put into production. According to Leslie Dandy, IKL was contracted at £2000 a year, without royalties, to produce designs exclusively for G-Plan; with the Company retaining full copyright. Leslie Dandy also says, IKL's designs were not generally successful - being to expensive to produce and the style and proportions not suiting the British taste and home. ref: HWFA Research Material, Oliver Heal, 02.08.2007 'Notes of a Conversation with Leslie Dandy' unpublished.
